Noticeboard

Welcome to Rick Marriott - as of 2nd March 2015 Rick Marriott will be the new Practice Business Manager.

GP Registrar Training

The Orchard has been accredited as a GP Training Practice. This means that qualified doctors who have chosen to specialise in General Practice will be attached to the practice for a period of time, from 4 to 12 months. These doctors are known as GP Registrars and are fully qualified, registered doctors who have been through a rigorous selection process to gain their place on the training programme. They will all have at least 2 years hospital experience but some will have 4 years or more.

Drs Conlan and James have undergone special training over the past couple of years to enable them to act as trainers and will be responsible for supervising their placement.

As part of their training the GP Registrars need to video record some of their consultations. If you have an appointment with the GP Registrar you may be asked by the receptionists if you would be happy to take part in this. At any time you are able to say “no” to being videotaped and this will not prejudice the way your consultation is viewed or handled in any way. All videos are kept confidential and are destroyed when no longer required.

The whole team at The Orchard are confident that having Registrars will be a great asset to both the patients and the staff. We look forward to the enthusiasm and up to date knowledge that these doctors fresh from hospital experience will bring to the practice.

We hope that you will welcome these doctors, as you do with the medical students and notice some benefits in terms of increased appointment availability.

At any time if you do not wish to be seen by a GP Registrar please bring this to the attention of the receptionist or one of the GP partners. Again, at no time will this decision prejudice your care with us. The Registrar will be supervised at all times by Drs Conlan or James so if you have a problem the Registrar has difficulty in managing, Drs Conlan or James will be readily available to assist and review your case.

Welcome to The Orchard Surgery in Bromborough, Wirral

The Orchard medical practice was established in the heart of Bromborough, in 1958, when the original purpose-built - an innovation at the time - premises were erected. Over the years, the practice has evolved, keeping pace with medical advances and outgrowing that first small bungalow. Today, we are a 4 doctor partnership, offering a full range of general medical services based on modern family practice while at the same time, we believe, retaining many of the traditional qualities appreciated by patients. Our practice covers an area within an approximate 3 mile radius of Bromborough, including Eastham, other surrounding villages and parts of Bebington.

Premises

Our newly-built, enlarged premises, on the same site, opened in September 2011, allowing us to expand the range of services available to our patients. This process of innovation is continuing. The building is 2 storey, with all direct patient services situated on the ground floor.

The  premises are compliant with disability legislation and, as such, are fully accessible to people with disabilities. There are 2 designated parking bays close to the entrance of the building.

Parking

There is a new, enlarged, carpark at the front, and there is street parking to be found within a short distance, should the carpark on occasion, at busy times, be full.

Patient Participation Group

The Orchard Surgery has a PPG who meet monthly and work with the surgery team to promote the practice and review services. If you are interested in joining the group or would like more information please click on the "Patient Group" link to the right to see contact details.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY TEST

We would like your feedback on the care or treatment we give you any time you visit your GP or have contact with the practice.  Please click on the link to the right "friend & family survey" and complete the short questionnaire.  We appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Extended Hours (from September 2014)

In response to patient demand from recent surveys, from week beginning 15th September 2014 we will be offering early morning and late evening appointments.  Appointments will be available until 8pm on Wednesday evenings with a GP and healthcare assistant and from 7am on Thursday mornings with GP and practice nurse.  These appointments will be pre-bookable and not for emergencies.  Emergency cover will still be available from the out of hours service at these times.  The surgery will be open for those patients with the pre-bookable appointments only.  The surgery phones will be switched over to the answer machine.

We hope this will help those patients with work, childcare, carer commitments etc who find it difficult to attend appointments during normal opening  times.

On-line appointments and prescriptions

In order to use our online facilities you first have to register with the surgery. If you are not already registered please contact reception to obtain details.
