Launching 'Think Pharmacy' to serve your health needs!!
The Orchard Surgery is delighted to announce its support of the local 'Think Pharmacy' campaign working closely with local Pharmacies to help improve your access for 'Minor Ailment' conditions.
We will be launching our specific support on Wed, 1 July 2015 and it is likely that you will note a slight change to our:
- Phone system - we will be using the phone to inform patients who contact the surgery of our 'Minor Ailments' campaign;
- Phone contact - to help initiate the service, reception staff will conduct a minor triage of your needs when you phone us or call in. This is not meant to be intrusive but designed to learn of your need and to sign post you to the most effective and quickest service - this may now be the pharmacist if you are regarded to have a 'minor ailment'.
We can assure you that this campaign is launched with the patient in mind, improving your access to health services while reducing the patient need to visit the surgery.
We do hope you will support our efforts and those of the local pharmacists with this campaign!!
For more information please do visit our 'Think Pharmacy' page to the right of this message.

The Orchard supporting our 'Carers' Community!!
The Orchard Surgery, in conjunction with the Patient Panel, is pleased to announce the start of our 'Carers Support Service' with effect from 2 July 2015. The service, undertaken by 'Wired' will provide a monthly two hour clinic where carers can attend the Orchard Surgery under appointment to gain support, discuss their challenges and seek advice.
The surgery will be writing out to all our registered carers in due course to advise of the service and to gather further understanding on how the surgery can assist further in supporting the day to day challenges of the carer.
Medical Students at the Orchard...
To assist with the development of future NHS Professionals, the Orchard Surgery is again providing opportunity for two year three medical students to attend the surgery during the period of 11-22 May 2015.
During this time the GPs will be gaining patient consent to enable the students to be present during consultations....we do hope you will support our efforts in this area and welcome the students to the surgery!

Patient Feedback...we invite your comments!!
The Orchard Surgery is keen to gather patient feedback on an ongoing basis in respect of its activity, performance and patient experience. To this end, we are very active in the gathering of your thoughts and would invite you to place your comments with us confidentially either at the front desk on your visit or through our online 'Friends and Family' Test which can be accessed to the right of this message. The surgery will be publishing a 'Summary Feedback' document on a monthly basis which will be available both online line and in the surgery.
Additionally, if you wish to bring your comments and thoughts directly to the attention of the practice manager through a telephone conversation or meeting then please do approach the surgery and request that discussion...I am more that happy to learn of your thoughts and experiences directly in our aim to improve and meet appropriate expectations.
Welcome to The Orchard Surgery in Bromborough, Wirral
The Orchard medical practice was established in the heart of Bromborough, in 1958, when the original purpose-built - an innovation at the time - premises were erected. Over the years, the practice has evolved, keeping pace with medical advances and outgrowing that first small bungalow. Today, we are a 4 doctor partnership, offering a full range of general medical services based on modern family practice while at the same time, we believe, retaining many of the traditional qualities appreciated by patients. Our practice covers an area within an approximate 3 mile radius of Bromborough, including Eastham, other surrounding villages and parts of Bebington.
Our newly-built, enlarged premises, on the same site, opened in September 2011, allowing us to expand the range of services available to our patients. This process of innovation is continuing. The building is 2 storey, with all direct patient services situated on the ground floor.
The premises are compliant with disability legislation and, as such, are fully accessible to people with disabilities. There are 2 designated parking bays close to the entrance of the building.
There is a new, enlarged, carpark at the front, and there is street parking to be found within a short distance, should the carpark on occasion, at busy times, be full.
Patient Participation Group
The Orchard Surgery has a PPG who meet monthly and work with the surgery team to promote the practice and review services. If you are interested in joining the group or would like more information please click on the "Patient Group" link to the right to see contact details.
FRIENDS AND FAMILY TEST
We would like your feedback on the care or treatment we give you any time you visit your GP or have contact with the practice. Please click on the link to the right "friend & family survey" and complete the short questionnaire. We appreciate you taking the time to do this.
Extended Hours (from September 2014)
In response to patient demand from recent surveys, from week beginning 15th September 2014 we will be offering early morning and late evening appointments. Appointments will be available until 8pm on Wednesday evenings with a GP and healthcare assistant and from 7am on Thursday mornings with GP and practice nurse. These appointments will be pre-bookable and not for emergencies. Emergency cover will still be available from the out of hours service at these times. The surgery will be open for those patients with the pre-bookable appointments only. The surgery phones will be switched over to the answer machine.
We hope this will help those patients with work, childcare, carer commitments etc who find it difficult to attend appointments during normal opening times.
